Technology

Technology is the practical application of knowledge especially in a particular area to the practical aims of human life to change or manipulate our environment.

Another definition of technology would be a human innovation that is in action and involves the creating of knowledge and the processes to develop systems that solve problems and increase our human capabilities.

More simply put, applying science to achieve an industrial or commercial objective.

Technology is a concept that deals with a broad range of human and animal knowledge in the use of crafts and tools and thru their use how it affects the ability to adapt and control their environment.

It is hard to define technology in a strict definition because it can refer to hardware, machines, or utensils which are material objects, while it is also used in broader terms such as systems, techniques, and methods of organization.

The converting of natural resources into simple tools was the start of technology. Some of the earlier uses were the ability to control fire and the invention of the wheel.

Some more recent technological developments such as the telephone, printing press, and the internet have allowed humans to communicate more freely and on a global scale.

Not all technology for humans has been used for peaceful reasons as can be seen with the development of weapons of mast destruction from clubs to nuclear weapons.

Society has been affected both positively and negatively by technology in that it has created more advanced economies and the rise of a leisure class at the expense of unwanted by-products such as depletion of natural resources and pollution, which is a detriment to our environment.

Values of society are affected by the influence of technology implementations which may raise ethical questions such as the notion of efficiency dealing in terms of human productivity which was reserved before for machines.

The present and future of technology has been debated as to whether it improves the human condition or causes conditions to worsen.

The fear today is that technology applied directly to humans as it was to machines will take away human value and human worth in the search for more efficiency and cost savings in factories and business which in the end will cause a society to fall and crumble that does not have respect taken for the human element.

If those in influence and control where to continue down this path they would eliminate their source of revenue because the working class would be reduced to a position where they would no longer have the resources to contribute to society and purchase the parts, material goods, or products that are being produced.
