Relationships are the state of affairs that exists between those having relations, dealings, associations, or some type of connection.

Personal relationships can be nurtured thru personal connections, correspondence, media, or print.

Our kinship or blood relationship position will never change, but our living relationships such as marriage, love relations, friendships, working or job relations can change either for the better or worse.

Relationships do not just happen; they require time, attention, and energy to maintain and to keep them strong and positive.

Understanding ourselves, our personality and the make-up or personality of the other person will help us to understand how to better communicate with each other.

There are many different types of relationships with specific needs and characteristics, but they all have two critical areas that are basic to them which are communication and expectation.

We must ask ourselves what do I expect from myself and the other person and how am I communicating these thoughts and expectations to the other person.

Friendship relationships are based on respect, trust, a mutual liking, and many times unconditional acceptance and even love.

Some relationships take place at a considerable physical distance such as pen pals or internet friends.

Many friendship relationships are developed because of a common cause or interest such as a club, fraternity, sorority, organization, association, society, or lodge where the individuals may be referred to as brotherhood or sisterhood.

Another relationship called soulmates consists of persons who find mutual understanding and acceptance of one another thru an agreeable meeting of the minds which draws them together.
