Electronics

Electronics is the use of electronic devices and the effects of, emission of, and behavior of electrons. It is also a science of physics used in the control of electrons with transistors, photoelectric cells, and electron tubes in gases and vacuums.

Early experiments with electricity were the beginnings or start of electronics. Thomas Edison and others in the 1880s used an evacuated glass tube to watch the current flow between elements.

Electrical science and technology is separated from electronics in that it deals with control and application, generation, and distribution of electrical power.

Electronics engineering is solving practical problems with the construction and design of electronic circuits.

Semiconductor components are used to perform electron control in most of the electronic devices used today.

Semiconductor devices, their related technology and the study of them are considered as the field of physics.

In an electronic system that has an electronic component that is used to affect electrons and electron fields in a planned manner that is consistent with the intended operation of the electronic system, that electronic component would be defined as any physical entity which operates as such.

An electronic circuit that has a special or selected function is made up generally of components that are connected together usually by soldering to a (PCB) or a printed circuit board. Some of these special functions could include an amplifier, radio receiver, or an oscillator.

Electronic Analytical Balances

Integrated circuits are components that been packaged together in more complex groupings.

Resistors, diodes, transistors, and capacitors are some examples of electronic components used today.

Transistors and thyristors are known as active components, while resistors and capacitors are known as passive.

In 1947 at Bell Labs the development of the transistor led the way to miniaturization of electronic components which through a progressive process developed into high-density microprocessors by the mid 1980s. Because of these developments great advances where made in computer technology and also in automated computer-based systems.
