Drink

Drink is to ingest or take into the mouth and to swallow a liquid. Another usage of drink is to take in or to absorb and to soak up.

A drink can be considered a beverage and is a liquid that was prepared to be consumed by a human.

Beverages or drinks have been a part of the human culture in filling a basic need of human society.

Water in its basic or pure form is vital to human life, but is not defined as a beverage, although all beverages do contain water.

White Wines.

The basic categories of a drink are water, alcoholic beverages, non-alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, hot beverages, and some that fall in the "other" category.

Water that is fresh and clean is essential to human life and to various other life forms.

Water is composed of hydrogen and oxygen and in its different states is needed for all forms of life that we know.

The three states of water are liquid, solid or ice, and a gaseous state known as steam or water vapor.

An alcoholic beverage contains ethanol which is normally called alcohol and is made up of three basic classes known as wines, beers, and spirits.

Alcoholic beverages are consumed around the world in almost every nation that most regulate with laws that affect the consumption, sale, and production of them. One of the most common of these laws is the minimum age at which a person can buy or drink legally any alcoholic beverages and this age can be as low as 16 years, but is set at 18 years in most nations.

Most cultures around the world produce and consume alcoholic beverages that are many times used in and are an important part of social events. Because of its neurological effects on the human body it plays a large role in social interaction.

Non-alcoholic beverages contain less than .5% alcohol by volume. This group would include apple cider, low-alcohol beer, and non-alcoholic wine. Some other examples would be non-alcoholic mixed drinks that include punches, virgin cocktails, or mocktails that are consumed by recovering alcoholics, children, people whose religion restricts the consumption of alcohol, and others who enjoy flavorful drinks without the affects of alcohol.

A soft drink is the opposite of a hard drink which is known as a beverage that contains alcohol. By the term soft drink we are referring to a beverage that does not contain alcohol. Soft drink beverage examples are colas, fruit punch, lemonade, sparkling water, and iced tea.

Hot beverages are another general group of beverages that would include items such as coffee, hot cider, hot chocolate, gluhwein a warm or hot wine, tea, herbal teas, and roasted grain beverages.

Our last group of drink or beverages is the "others" group. This group may be called either drink or food depending on how it was prepared, its thickness and solid ingredients. Some examples of this group are yogurt, soup, and buttermilk.
